FUNCTIONAL JOB SUMMARY:
Performs work which involves design calculations for special metal building structures with a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials.

Difficult coordination requirements, including the ability to:
 Design high complexity jobswith accuracy and within the timeframes consistent with the position expectations.
 Assure all building designs are processed in accordance with ABC guidelines and other governing codes and standards.
 Review ABC orders for unique conditions and adequacy of input.
 ’Value-engineer’ to achieve efficient and cost effective design solutions to maximize profitability.
 Effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
 Demonstrate courteous and professional office etiquette.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school with emphasis in Structural Engineering.
 Achieved Professional Engineer (PE) registration and be eager to become registered in all 13 states and 3 western provinces of Canada of the West Division.
 Proficient in the structural design of highly complex metal building structures.
 The ability to understand and support ABC service practices, customer needs, the region’s goals and the ability to influence acceptable results for both ABC and our Customers.
 Be a self-starter, highly motivated, and able to manage time resources in a fast paced atmosphere.
 Previous experience as a designer of pre-engineered metal buildings.

• A strong aptitude for managing multiple tasks and assignment. The ability to conceptualize, implement and follow through on ideas for greater design efficiency, value and accuracy.
• Sensitivity to the service demands of our customers and our sales group and determination in seeing that these needs are met.
• Effective communication skills for internal and external interaction and project management are essential.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to complement the collective efforts of the group, as well as the necessary leadership, organizational and technical skills.

WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
The individual must successfully interact with our external customers, estimating, customer service, department managers, supervisors, and purchasing.
